First of all, thank you for reading my blog. If you are recently engaged, congratulations! Of course I'd love you to consider me for your wedding photography, but whether you choose me or not, I really hope this helps you choose the right wedding photographer for you.
Lets be honest, organising a wedding is a very daunting task and unless you're a wedding planner, it's something you don't do very often.
A few weeks ago I was chatting to a lovely couple about their wedding photography and they said how overwhelmed they had been, not only with the photography but with organising their wedding as a whole.
With that in mind, I've written this blog, with the hope that it will help you choose the right wedding photographer for you...
Choosing the right wedding photographer for you...
There's more to picking the right wedding photographer than just liking their pictures, although of course, I would agree that's an important one. Here's a list of some other considerations:

What kind of wedding photographer are you looking for? Are you looking for someone who will photograph your wedding day in a natural way or one that's more posed? Have a look at different styles and examples of what you might want.

Is the wedding photographer available on your wedding day? Send them an email with your date to check their availability.

Are they experienced? Most established photographers will have examples from real weddings on their website. Take a look at the photos available on their website.

Do they cover your area? Many photographers work in their local area and beyond. Local photographers may have experience at your chosen venue. The areas I primarily cover are Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Derbyshire & East Midlands (which is local to where I'm based), but I'm happy to travel further afield.

How long will the photographer be needed for? Typically, if you are wanting a photographer to tell the story of your day, it works best if they are with you from bridal preparation until after your first dance.

What packages do they offer? For example, digital packages, photo books and print options.

How will they deliver the pictures of your wedding day? Most photographers, including myself, will offer a password protected web page, so that you and your family and friends, can view them in the comfort of your own home.

Weddings are expensive so its good to have a budget. Check the photographer you like is within budget.

What would happen if the photographer could no longer photograph your wedding. Do they have a back up? or are they part of a group where they can source another photographer for you?

And finally, one of the most important things to consider when choosing your wedding photographer... Its really important to like them. Imagine having someone at your wedding who you really didn't like or you didn't feel comfortable around. Your wedding photographer is one of the few people who will be with you throughout the majority of your day, so I would say its essential that you like them. Being relaxed and happy with your choice of photographer will be reflected in the photos that are taken.
Why do people choose me as their wedding photographer?
- A question I always ask when couples choose me to be their wedding photographer is how did they hear about me? The vast majority of my customers have either seen me at a family or friends wedding or they've been recommended by someone whose wedding I've had the pleasure of photographing.

A little bit about me...
Born and bred in the Steel City, my name is Richard and I'm proud to call Sheffield my home. I live with with my partner Helen, 2 children Ronnie & Martha and our dog affectionately named Shrimp.
As a family we love going for walks, holidaying in our caravan and generally being outdoors. When time allows, I also like to relax by taking pictures of the wildlife and the beautiful scenery we're blessed to live around.
My passion for photography started many years ago, when I'd enjoy looking at my Nan's old film cameras. Later, this developed into enjoying taking pictures of friends and family on nights out - This is when I realised that I had an eye for capturing natural moments. In 2010 I bought my first 'proper' camera and my photography soon progressed into something I wanted to do as a career ... and as they say the rest is history.
I take genuine pride in my work. I am committed to providing customers with a quality experience. Over the years I have undertaken training in a number of different specialities. I enjoy exploring different techniques and continuing to develop the work I produce.
